However, their flight has been cancelled and they are currently stuck at Nadi (Fiji Islands). They have been told the next flight to Rotuma is due to leave on 6 March. [TNX The Daily DX] DU - A group of operators from the Philippines and Japan will be active as DZ1JP on 10-12 March to celebrate the Philippine-Japan Friendship Year, commemorating 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. This operation will concentrate on 160 metres and EME (on 6 and 2 metres). QSL via JA1HGY. [TNX DU1EV] FR/G - In February 2005, an outbreak of chikungunya (a form of viral fever spread by mosquitoes) was recorded on Reunion and around the 20% of the residents have been hit by the virus, and with 77 deaths have been associated to chikungunya. A conditional clearance to organize the DXpedition to Glorioso (http://glorieuses2005.free.fr/) has been given by the military HQ on Reunion. However, the current health situation in the area (neither specific treatment nor vaccine are currently available for chikungunya) advises the organizers not to make the trip now, but to put off it until October or November. [TNX F5CQ] JA - Look for Takeshi, JI3DST to operate as JI3DST/JS6 from Miyako Island (AS-079) until around 7 UTC on 6 March. QSL via home call, preferably through the JARL bureau. [TNX JI3DST] OH - Martti Laine, OH2BH will celebrate his 60th birthday later this year, and the Finnish Telecom Authority has released OH60BH to be used from March. Several interesting activities are planned for this Jubilee year, including one more rare DX counter that will hopefully serve as the actual venue for the party (ten years ago it was the Republic of Nauru, C21BH) For the time being, look for Martti to operate as V31BH from Belize, ARRL SSB Contest included. QSL via OH2BN. [TNX OH2BN] P4 - Look for P40D (requested call) to be aired on all bands CW, SSB and digital modes from Aruba (SA-036) on 6-16 March. QSL via WD9DZV. [TNX NG3K] P4 - Tom, W7YW will be operating as P40TW from Aruba (SA-036) on 7-24 March. Tom will be accompanied by his wife Bonnie, W7BWW and he plans to be active on all bands SSB, RTTY and CW from the P40L contest station. QSL direct to home call. [TNX W7YW] TY - TY4TW, TY5LEO, TY5MR and TY5WP are the callsigns issued to GM4FDM, K2LEO, IK1PMR and PA3EWP for their 15-30 March activity from Benin [425DXN 769]. Teir equipment now includes two amplifiers and a Spiderbeam for 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10 metres, in addition to monobanders for 160, 80, 40 and 30 metres. [TNX UT7UA] VK9_ni - The Oceania Amateur Radio DX Group Inc (http://odxg.org/) are planning to operate on 160-6 metres CW, SSB and RTTY as VI9NI from Norfolk Island (OC-005) from 25 May until 20 June as part of the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the landing of the HMS Bounty mutineers. It is possible to accommodate extra operators for various times during this month long operation, thos who are interested in participating in this activity are invited to contact vi9ni@westnet.com.au; donations to help offset the cost of freighting all the equipment are also being sought. [TNX The Daily DX] XE - XE7T is the special callsign that has been issued for the ARRL DX SSB Contest to the Hermosillo Contest Group, a group of amateurs from Hermosillo, Mexico who will have their first experience at a major contest. He will operate as H44MS from the Solomon Islands on 4-12 March and then as P29VMS from Papua New Guinea until late March or early April.
